2030 Water Resources Group
Designing a modern platform for the 2030 Water Resources Group to catalyze collective action on water security through multi-stakeholder partnerships, data-driven insights, and regional collaboration.
Project Overview
The 2030 Water Resources Group (2030 WRG) is a World Bank–hosted partnership that brings together governments, the private sector, and civil society to close the gap between water demand and supply by 2030.
This project focused on creating a compelling digital presence for 2030 WRG that communicates complex water data, showcases country-level partnerships, and drives stakeholder engagement. The goal was to redesign the existing website into a visually rich, data-driven platform that educates visitors about the global water crisis, highlights partnership impact, and inspires new collaborations across regions.
Water Security
Closing the gap between water demand and supply through collaborative action
Multi-Stakeholder
Connecting governments, private sector, and civil society for collective impact
Regional Impact
Active partnerships across 15+ countries driving water reform and investment
The Challenge
The existing 2030 WRG website struggled to convey the urgency of the global water crisis, failed to highlight the impact of its partnerships, and offered a disconnected experience for diverse stakeholders seeking data, reports, and collaboration opportunities.
Data Storytelling Gap
Critical water data and partnership metrics were presented in static formats — lacking the visual impact needed to communicate the scale and urgency of the water crisis effectively.
Disconnected Regional Content
Country-level partnerships and regional activities were siloed across pages with no cohesive way for users to explore the group's global footprint and local impact stories.
Diverse Audience Needs
Government officials, business leaders, NGOs, and researchers each needed different content — from high-level overviews to detailed technical reports — through a single platform.
Weak Visual Identity
The existing brand presence lacked the modern, dynamic visual language needed to position 2030 WRG as a leading global voice on water security and sustainable development.
Project Goals
Visualize Water Data Compellingly
Design interactive data presentations and infographics that make the scale of the water crisis and partnership impact immediately understandable to diverse audiences.
Showcase Regional Partnerships
Create an immersive country-level experience where users can explore partnerships, progress, and impact stories — connected through an intuitive geographic interface.
Drive Stakeholder Engagement
Design clear calls-to-action, news feeds, and resource sections that encourage new partners to join and existing stakeholders to deepen their involvement.
Establish Modern Brand Presence
Develop a bold, fresh visual identity that uses water-inspired colors and imagery to position 2030 WRG as a dynamic, forward-looking global initiative.
Ensure Full Responsiveness
Deliver a seamless experience across all devices with fast load times — essential for stakeholders accessing resources in varied connectivity environments globally.
Optimize Content Discoverability
Build powerful search and filtering for publications, news, and resources so users can quickly find relevant materials by region, topic, and content type.
Design Process
The design process followed a structured UX workflow, balancing data-rich content with visual storytelling to create an engaging platform for water sector stakeholders.
Problem Solving
Conducted stakeholder interviews and content audits to understand how governments, businesses, and NGOs interact with water data — identifying the need for visual storytelling and clearer regional navigation.
Information Architecture
Restructured content around key pillars — About, Where We Work, What We Do, Publications, News — with country pages as a central hub connecting all content types.
User Flow Mapping
Mapped journeys for government partners exploring country data, business leaders reviewing partnership opportunities, and researchers accessing technical publications and reports.
Wireframing
Developed low-fidelity wireframes focusing on data visualization layouts, interactive maps, partnership showcases, and responsive content grids for publications.
UI Design
Created high-fidelity designs in Adobe XD with a water-inspired color palette — deep blues, teals, and fresh greens — paired with bold typography and immersive imagery.
Prototype Creation
Built interactive prototypes showcasing the geographic explorer, partnership deep-dives, publication filtering, and responsive behaviors for multi-device testing.
Iteration & Refinement
Gathered feedback from the 2030 WRG team and global stakeholders, refining data visualizations, country page layouts, and overall navigation through multiple iteration cycles.
Final Outcome
The redesigned 2030 WRG platform delivers a visually compelling, data-rich experience that drives stakeholder engagement and showcases the group's global water security impact.
